Btw, to be clear (and for future reference, since this will likely soon be just one of many crazy things happening in 2026) – –yesterday I posted that postage stamp with George Washington’s quote as condemnation of Trump invading Venezuela.

Story Idea: A young intern working for the Office of Presidential Correspondence is affected ––(how?)–– by reading weekly letters a woman sends President Trump.

Shako: 1. Tall, cylindrical military hat with plume or pompom on top.
2. Also... What the Girlettes are requesting.
"Shako is from Hungarian csákó: the peak Hungarian soldiers added to their stovepipe-style hats." (Wikipedia)
BELOW: by French woman painter Jeanne-Élisabeth Chaudet, 1767-1832
Left: Boy with Shako (Napoléon-Joseph de Colbert-Chabanais), 1814
Right: "Girl Carrying her Father's Sword", 1816.
I don't see much about Chaudet, on a quick search, but her portraits of children are interesting--and not otherwise militaristic.
Of course the Girlettes’ interest is purely pompous and circumstantial. 😆
Must start picking up the apartment now --hopefully Marz is driving down today! Though maybe not, if the highways are icy.
Update: Road conditions have been upgraded from icy to slushy – – so she is coming – – slowly. Yay!
