I wrote to Target CEO, Brian Cornell (posted here, at end).
The buck stops here.
From CNN: Target was one of the most outspoken supporters of DEI. It’s changed its tune
To support the boycott of Target for rolling back their DEI…
1. Contact Brian Cornell, Target CEO:
brian.cornell@target.comStreet address:
1000 Nicollet Mall
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403
2. Same address to ‘Board of Directors’, or Email:
BoardOfDirectors@target.com
“The Corporate Secretary has been instructed by the Board to forward communications to the relevant Board members…”
3. Phone Target Corporate
“Guest inquiries should be directed to
1-800-440-0680 ”

Here’s what I wrote on one of my printed cards.
I took a slightly obsequious tone – – (so different from how I wrote to Mariann Budde)– – because I feel like these guys in power respond to that.
Also, it’s true: I really was proud of Target, and I would really love him/them to be heroic.
This guy is my age—whaddya think: surely he remembers Tina Turner in Mad Max?
Truly fabulous letter!

Thanks, Ceci– – I handwrite off the top of my head and then afterwords think, I should’ve said this I should’ve said that. But one thing I like about handwriting is you can’t easily go back and change it like on a email—so it’s rough but real!
DeleteGreat letter! Thanks for posting all the Target contact info. I will write today too. I saw where Target’s board of directors is suing them because a DEI boycott will cost them profits and they weren’t given a heads up. Looks like the last boycott (over wimping out on gay merch in 2023) lowered their stock by about $40 a share/25%. Good! I think we can lower it even more now. I heard Costco has more than enough new members to make up for those leaving over their DEI stance.
ReplyDeleteOh! Good to hear about the board! I had assumed that they were behind dropping DEI to raise or keep profits – – but boycotts do hit businesses where they live… they should’ve just left it as it was!
DeletePS. Sadly, it’s shareholders suing the board and CEO for supporting DEI in the past, thus risking their profits now:

There is a target here, I have been there maybe three times in it's long life...Target has nothing here in the mall so I could say that a boycott or letter would be silly for me - not my shop. But thank you for the info- I don''t know anyone here that shops at Target but I will pass this in just in case. I was tempted to shop there when the rainbow display was front and center but now. no chance...
ReplyDeleteOf course there are plenty of other issues to speak up about that might be closer to home-/
DeleteThis one is personal to me.
But you don’t have to literally shop at Target to have a dog in this race– –it’s a national civil rights issue.
Good for you. And, thank you.
ReplyDeleteBack attcha, Joanne, for all you do!
