Girlettes Calendar? (Might you want one?)

I might skip the Girlettes Calendar this year, I thought.
The girlettes are still very much in my life (of course), but I haven't shot as many photos of them.

But... a friend texted me this morning inquiring about a 2025 calendar--she wants one, and her niece, whom I've never met, was asking for one too.

So, I want to check:
* * * Might any of you be wanting a 2025 Girlette Calendar?

You don't have to commit, I'm just checking. They'll probably be $20 this year, plus shipping (about $5).
(Some from previous years.)

Yesterday a bunch of handmade doll clothes came in. Most were the wrong size for the girlettes, but I brought home a few hats, which are terrific. Spike looks so jaunty!
"Call me Frank," she says.

The birthday cake I made for Big Boss was a hit.

The amount of frosting turned out just right, after all. I didn't eat any cake, but I enjoyed how stripey it looked:

It can be obnoxious when someone gets on a health-kick.
I hope I'm not being like that.
But with sugar, I'm like an alcoholic-in-recovery friend who told me they can't drink "just one":
I can't eat three Oreos or even "just" a sleeve of them. I eat the entire package. (Or, I feel ill halfway through and throw the rest out right then, so I don't eat them all.)

Abstinence being easier than moderation, none is best for me, for now. (You know, I am eating fruit, but natural sugars & carbs (such as a sweet potato) never sufficed before.)

And it's feeling pretty easy, which, I tell ya, is WEIRD:
I never went more than a few hours without hunting down some sugar.
But everyone's different.
____________

More of my work at the thrift store.

I'd set aside this Florida shell box, below, from 1929. It was dusty and I was going to wash it before I priced it.
When I came back the next day, a coworker had thrown it out. Luckily I saw it in the trash so I could rescue it.

After that, I designated a shelf in the work area for VINTAGE and told people to put old-looking stuff there.

In the past, that's meant I get a lot of Precious Moments and the like, but that's okay--better too much glop than losing the really cool old things.

I looked this box up and they sell for several many dollars--even a hundred.
This one's shells are a bit beat-up, but the box is lined with the prettiest pink patterned paper--tatty but fairly unfaded, being out of the light. I think I'll price it $4.99. It might be recognized as cool, now I have a Vintage section on the sales floor.

A couple vintage trolls (glass eyes, mohair hair)--$24/each--they go in the glass jewelry case by the cashier.
A groovy bean bag frog--I remember those from my 1960s childhood--
and Fire King 'Sunrise Swirl' plates. (Vintage china doesn't sell that well though, even priced cheap.)

Okay, I'm going to start to see if I have enough Girlettes photos I like to put together a calendar...
Groove on!

  1. Of course I would want a calendar- photos of family doing splendid plastic life orphan activities. IF it is not too much trouble, I would even buy a partial calendar! Just having them on the wall here is such a comfort. coount me IN.
That cake is absolutely perfect- better than Mom's , the best baker in the universe... I would not be able to temper my no sugar tendencies . Good thing you know yourself!

  2. That cake looks great! Even more impressive when cut!

Yes, a separate place for Vintage is a good idea...maybe some others may start to recognise that quality?
