Oh, dear, that isn’t the idea at all – – I think of that (your interpretation) as “do your damn JOB” – – this, “work” is meant to be encouragement to do your (my!) true heart “work”, like making art or writing or any old thing whatsoever. Hm… must ponder how/if I could /should rephrase that to avoid misunderstanding….
interesting about how we each see the second card as saying different things. i saw the "do your work" card immediately as "do your work rather than spend lots of time surfing the internet to see what other people are doing and getting discouraged about creating anything original" card. both of the cards really speak to me! i need to follow that advice more myself. kirsten
Oh that’s good to know, Kirsten – – thanks for letting me know you saw it that way – (maybe Ceci did too but was thinking of that valid alternate meaning).
I seem to be cheerleading myself with my art—I’m very happy if it encourages anyone else too!
artists and those who create get it! and it is a constant battle between seeing what others are doing and doing our work. others will see it as you telling them to do their job and miss the whole point. kirsten
Ah, I'm envisioning the second one printed on small cards that could be handed out to receptionists playing cards, etc. Too hostile?
