SPOCK (to Trump): "I fail to comprehend your indignation, sir. I have simply made the logical deduction that you are a liar."
2. Objections
Donald Trump slipped so well into the place of Trelane, a dangerous idiot-child alien, from Star Trek TOS's episode "The Squire of Gothos" (1967).
Spock’s actual dialogue:
"I object to you. I object to intellect without discipline; I object to power without constructive purpose.”
I'm not sure the intellect part applies. Slyness maybe?

DeleteBut I discern that you are not a Trekkie. Spock here was addressing a petulant alien with seemingly low intelligence, so by “intellect” he doesn’t mean the person is intelligent but simply that they have the capacity to think—even if it’s in a devious way.
Still, Trump does have a kind of political genius —like when he said he could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and still be popular.
Back in the late '60s all the then existing Star Treks were broadcast daily on our local TV channel just before dinner time and my brother and I watched them without fail - I would have said I had seen them all many times but this one doesn't ring a bell. After that I lived for many many years with no TV and got very out of touch with Star Trek. Probably should do something about that!

That’s how I watched Star Trek too – – in syndication on the black-and-white TV in the 1970s after high school. I do think some of the episodes are well worth watching again – – this one, “the Squire of Gothod” is not one of them though – –lol

DeleteMy brother (companion in watching before dinner) commented recently that he caught the first couple minutes of one of the episodes we watched multiple times and immediately had the whole show in his head, but that he was also suddenly hungry for dinner. So there is that aspect!
