I forgot to say, yesterday's Red Boy is part of a series:
Toys Recreate Paintings (though it's been almost two years since I made one).
Left: Calling card of Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes in "The Red Boy".
(The painting is almost 3 ft. x 5 ft.; the card would be visible.)
Right: My card--with cat! I'm especially proud of this detail--I'd saved this old, cracking rubber cat from the thrift store.
I painted its eyes yellow to match Goya's cats.
Three cats...
Oooh, there are, in fact, THREE cats in Goya's painting. And one of them really wants to get that bird.
ReplyDeleteWonderful re-creation. Hair dye and all!
It is a good challenge and you are rising to it very well!!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Attention to detail totally! Love this one extremely much and am inspired though orphans are not keen to change their hair color... water based ink- very clever of you!
ReplyDeleteLoved finding the third cat.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Abby, GZ, Linda Sue, and Joanne!
ReplyDeleteI’d love to see this painting in the original and see just how visible that 3rd cat is.
The painting is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, so in theory I could do that one day.
