We found a moth.
It is gone.
First try at a woodblock print! (A little tricky.) I hope I can carve a 4-panel story of a forest funeral for a moth—like they really did in Duluth last year, where they found a dead white-lined sphinx moth. "It sparkles."
so many thoughts when i look at this: how the moth was emphasized and sparkle (?) less so. interesting also how the grain of the woodblock was picket up when printing. i love it!!

Thanks, Kirsten! I am so pleased with how the wood shows – – it really fits the story because it said enough forest! Since I don’t know what I’m doing I can’t claim any insight – – what I’m really enjoying the process!
Delete“set in a forest” not said enough 😆
DeleteI like it. I have got some small woodblocks to try instead of lino..
ReplyDeleteThanks, GZ—I think of you often and your Lino cut prints – – I have the framed oak with crow as you know – – I would love to see anything you do with wood too.nHave you done it before?
DeleteI thought it was a little more challenging than lino, because it’s variable – – but I do like it.
Looking forward to class tomorrow night where I will get some more instructions on it – – I jumped ahead and started carving on my own.
No I haven't used wood...these were a few blocks going cheap..end of line..and I thought Why not?!
