Remember to stir into flame...

My Christmas card print turned out to be
a painting as much as a print.
At the kitchen table:

It started as a botanical print of
pine cones holding winged seeds in their scales,
but it took off in different directions—almost calligraphic.
The top looks like the Hebrew letter Shin...

..and the whole thing reminds me of 2 Timothy 1:6
"Remember to stir into flame the things of God."

(I used to send about 100 Christmas cards, but in recent years have barely send half that. I only printed fifteen of these--the rest will be commercial cards.)

It encourages me to carve more linoleum!

  2. Beautiful job there!! I love what GZ said too.
Also I buy cards now and then with intention of sending them- but do I? No I do not.
I am not liking the post office these days!

    1. Did you paint the gold bit or is that foil?

    2. Thanks, Linda Sue!

I did paint the gold—it’s acrylic, but nice & shiny—
as I’d discovered on the Kermit/Hamilton poster!
(Up close, it’s not all that tidy😄—but the print isn’t either.)

These days it’d cost $78 to mail 100 Christmas cards!

    4. Right? 78 cents per stamp x 100.

    5. P.S. Though actually 78 cents to send something across the country to you isn't a bad deal.
I love the post office. I haven't had much trouble with it, aside from it being slow
--I definitely want to support it!
Otherwise we'll only have electronic connections.

  3. the gold painting on the background adds to the card and makes the design stand out. the red is a great one not the Christmasy red that we are used to but with the gold adds a richness to the print. to me the cost of stamps is not bad as recently i found 3 sheets of forever stamps that i bought several months ago so i'm set!! i love the po and love that i find the same people there whenever i go in.
